Your Chance to be a Star!

Award winning local theatre group Southport Spotlights are presenting the spectacular musical “Little Shop of Horrors” from 28 June to 5 July 2014 at The Little Theatre, Hoghton Street, Southport.

The show was made famous by the film version featuring Rick Moranis, Steve Martin and Bill Murray and on stage recently had a successful West End run starring BAFTA award-winning actress Sheridan Smith.

It tells the story of a nerdy young florist's assistant named Seymour Krelborn, who is about to be fired when Audrey, another employee, urges him to bring out a mysterious new strain of plant that he's been tinkering with. Mushnik, the store owner, gives Seymour one week to see if the "Audrey II" plant improves his business.

Unfortunately Seymour soon learns that Audrey II can talk and has a gruesome appetite.
He also discovers that the plant brings him success, money and fame--as well as the romantic interest of Audrey. However, the alien plant’s appetite grows bigger, with tragic results.
This hugely successful show is bursting with songs and a lively score by Alan Menkin whose past productions list Sister Act and Disney's Aladdin amongst others.

Not only that, but the Southport show features the largest animated puppet in Audrey II to appear on the Little Theatre stage.

To make a hit show like this happen Southport Spotlights need people to be part of this successful society.

They are looking for people who are full of energy, can sing, dance, enjoy working with a great team of talented production people and love having fun.

Everybody is welcome. They are also looking for people to help backstage and “front-of house”.

The introduction meeting is being held at Greenbank High School, Hastings Road, Birkdale, Southport PR8 2LT; at 8:30pm on Monday Date: 3rd March, 2014. The music, show plot and the different roles will be explained by the production team. The follow-up auditions will be on Monday 17th March at the same place at 7:30pm.
