I have recently been walking around the Nature Reserve as I am a keen Dog Walker and the Reserve is an Ideal place for this.

More and more recently I have been noticing that a large number of trees are being cut down to create picnic spaces along the top path next to the railway line.

On my last walk I noticed that a large volume of sand has been put around the side of one of the lakes near the Nature Reserve Office and that to do this a number of trees have also been cut down. My concern around this is that the Lakes on the Reserve are filled with both NatterJack Toads and also Great Crested Newts. In the doing of this how much has the Environment been affected and how much will this affect the nesting areas for these?

Also where did all of the sand come for this? (I suspect that this has come from other areas of the Sand Dunes within the Reserve area). What is the reasoning for destroying this habitat? And where has the funding come from for this to be carried out?

There is all of this talk about the Bike route being put in by Birkdale Golf Club but yet Ainsdale Nature Reserve does not seem to be being held accountable for the actions that are being taken.
