Shocking figures reveal that a staggering 6356 motorists have been caught by the average speed cameras on the A564 Tarleton bypass.
The 50mph limit was introduced last year in an attempt to reduce the accident rate on the road.
Most speeders were caught doing between 60-70mph.
The top speed recorded was 101mph.

A perfect chance to show if there is an improvement in the "attempt to reduce" the accident rate missed, after all that was the main excuse for dropping the speed but if it doesn't work (like the 20 mph in Southport) then it has failed. The only thing that needed to be done was getting carrot crunchers from one side of the A564 to the other at Mere Brow not deregulate miles of perfectly safe dual carriageway.

There was a perfectly simple way of doing that by making the junction 'no right turn' from both sides.

Are you sure ? I can't recall hearing of any major / serious injury incidents on that stretch for around a year ? Maybe am wrong but it used to be weekly there was some sort of high speed smash on that road , after all it was a race track crazy place to walk next to , now it's much quieter
