Qlocal has been contacted by concerned members of the public this morning after a shark was spotted in the Marine Lake.
About 4 feet in length the shark was in the water close to the Lakeside Church.
Closer inspection revealed that the shark was made from polystyrene and tape.

Really? Is the local population really so stupid to think there’s a shark merrily swimming around the marine lake?

Well - they bring out Christmas stock in July, so why not bring April Fools day into play now?

It is perfectly possible for a shark to be in the marine lake. It is after all a MARINE (ie SEAWATER) lake, there is access to the sea when the gates are occasionally opened and I have personally caught a shark (tope) at Ainsdale. It's not very likely but it is possible!
If somebody said there was a shark swimming in the Botanic Gardens, then THAT really is impossible.

Oh dear. You have confirmed my fears regarding the local population.

Its so obviously a plastic mock up and don't people realise you normally only see the dorsal fin above the water. One really does worry about the intelligence of the population!!

I would like to think the report was produced with tongue firmly in cheek, alternatively it would appear we have too many people who shouldn't be allowed out unsupervised.
