Damien commented on the great news for the town...
Delighted to announce that Southport is to receive up to £25 MILLION to rejuvenate Lord Street and the local economy. Whilst Labour wasted millions on The Bootle Strand Shopping Centre, the Conservatives have invested £25m into Southport’s economy.
Potentially good news, does lack a bit of class deciding to focus more on bootle and labour rather than the potential positives of the announcement. Potential positives in bringing more investment in that we’d ever got or would get with a Lib Dem MP, our last incumbent seemed more focused in wasting money trying to block Sainsbury’s and the only visible investment in the town was using allowances in renting an office off the local Lib Dem’s to top up the party’s coffers each year at probably not a very good rate rather than lowering the price of politics.
I notice it's up to £25 million pounds, that could mean just a fiver. The purchase of the Strand is also a red herring as it is making the council money and so helping to keep council tax down.

Reason: spelling
Awarding £25 million, when from 2011-2020, central government's austerity cuts resulted in a total £233 million budget shortfall for Sefton Council, how generous.
No mention of how much European funding will be lost post Brexit. I guarantee that no matter how many "Stronger Towns Funds" are implemented, they won't come close to compensating for the loss of European funding... and Southport has been one of the towns that has truly benefitted from EU funds.
Johnson may have increased May's town funding by £2 billion, but look what you will still lose out on. I know that European funding is UK taxpayer's money, but unless a post Brexit government funds projects to the same extent as the EU, you still lose.

So the EU "funding" money comes from the UK's contribution, so what's your point? The EU, gives us sweet FA, but we sure as hell pay them a few bob more than we get back.
Small bribe heading Southport's way. General Election coming soon. Beware of Conservative scammers.
Would you rather something from the Tories or nothing but bitterness, divisiveness and anti-Southport policies from the Lib Dem’s?
There’s a distinct lack of evidence over all the years of Pugh of what was actually achieved for the town other than looking after themselves with channelling office rental into own pockets, employing Lib Dem councillors blurring the lines between councillor role and MP support roles and setting up printing societies.
With regards their last candidate, they’d have the money earmarked for a tram from the pier to ASDA as that seemed like their only idea for the town. We can guarantee that the likes of Cllr Dawson will put more energy into doing the opposition down then using their so-called expert knowledge of the town to contribute to good ideas to spend whatever money comes the towns way (which even if over £10 is probably £10 more than their party has contributed)

I have no idea what the Lib Dems have done to upset you. Possible electoral basis?
The Tories have been running the country down so that the UK can become a third world country.
Strange that the promise of money comes just as The Tories want to call a General Election in the hope of a further power period before crashing out of the EU without a deal leaves everyone worse off.
This dodgy government is definitely dodgy, and Dumb-ien Moore now PPS to slimy Gove.

Not sure what “possible electoral basis” means but moreso I have no idea what you think the Lib Dem’s have done in Southport to merit a vote:
1) in coalition our Lib Dem MP voted with the Tories on many policies that are Southport unfriendly (bedroom tax being one of them as is reduction in council funding) so it’s hypocritical to just blame the Tories, they enabled it for their 15 mins of fame.
2) we had nearly 20 years of a Lib Dem MP with absolutely nothing to show for it other than wasting lots of taxpayer cash trying to block Sainsbury’s as his view was its key to the town. By your statement I’d suggest that was “dumb” as when did anyone base their seaside trip of whether or not there was a small to medium sized Sainsbury’s there....which of course may or may not close inspire or despite improving a now ever increasingly derelict Kew retail park
3) the behaviour of some of their councillors is frankly embarrassing and us in fact to the detriment of the town in making the council chamber unworkable for the council collective and the residents who go there. The failure to deal with the poor behaviour from some of their councillors is a massive problem too.
4) the pivoting on a sixpence from the campaign of “sue lives here, she’s local” to dragging in a “down with bootle” clone from wide afar shows they’d compromise any principle to get votes.
5) locally they have no positive ideas to improve the town, their focus is to do down others to look like least worst option rather than best, eg in last election their “best” idea seemed to be a tram from the pier to ASDA
....otherwise, they’re a great party but from a Southport perspective if they haven’t achieved anything by now, they’re not likely to achieve anything in the future so why waste the vote to just get soundbites and the rent on a Lib Dem owned office paid.
Im neither Tory or Labour by the way but a Lib Dem vote is a proven wasted vote in my view.
