Queens Road has now been turned into a pop up cycle lane. A no entry sign has been erected at the junction of Manchester Road. Access is possible by driving down Alexandra Road or Leyland Road.
Work begins shortly on Hoghton Street.

More lunacy, there is no logical reason for these pop up cycle lane changes. So you can't turn into Queens Rd from Manchester Rd but you can from Hawkshead St? What about from the other direction? Is it one way or no way? Totally illogical and unnecessary.

Fully agree with you. You cannot drive down Talbot St from Belmont/Hollybrook either.(unless for access) and not a single cyclist to be seen. The daft thing is if cyclists want to go into town they have to turn into Duke St or Portland which don't have cycle tracks???? Also does this mean that cyclists will be fined if riding on the pavement - particularly in these areas? This is totally ridiculous in my opinion

Now are Carers, District Nurses and Doctors cars to attend patients in their home or in nursing homes exempt. Or do the patients have to be denied treatment.

Why don't Sefton council put No Entry signs at the end of the Formby By-Pass, by the West Lancashire boundary sign on Southport Road and on Water Lane coming in from Preston.
I'm sure I can save them a lot of time, effort and money by banning everyone from coming into Southport, as this appears to be their ultimate goal.
Southport is no more - going to end up being Greater Bootle.
Oh and remove the signs Welcome to Southport and the Christmas Lights and replace them with Welcome to North Bootle!

What IF someone has ordered a Hackney or Private hire vehicle, how are they going to be able to pick these customers up,if it is only Buses and cyclists that are allowed on these routes ? There are quite a few Nursing homes, and a lot of elderly residents living down there, how are these staff or residents now going to be dropped off, or picked up ?......... Just glad that I don't now drive as a Private Hire anymore,as I have recently decided to give up doing so,after 30 yrs of doing the job,and the way that the roads have changed recently, thank goodness to be out of the job...

Chronic and moronic stupidity! The lunatics have clearly taken over the asylum, if there was no Public Consultation then this is illegal and the residents can ignore it....

Can I suggest the Council send an employee to count the number of cyclists using this facility in December to show that ratepayers are getting value for money.

Queens Road from Manchester Road to Alexandra Road has double yellow line on both sides. Albert Road from the roundabout to Alexandra Road only has double yellow lines down one side and car parking, on the other side. This is the main route with Council signs to Lord St. It is a bus route and large delivery lorries use it . When they meet the road becomes a single track. It will be twice as busy now that Queens Road is closed.
Do any of the Council employees come to Southport and see the problems?

So just when other boroughs have realised that this idea doesn’t work and are removing these pop up cycle lanes Southport (Bootle North) start installing them.
