West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said: “I am shocked at the information that children’s A&E at Ormskirk Hospital which is currently closed overnight due to Covid, will now permanently close from 10pm each evening.
“I am dismayed that I had to receive this information from an upset member of staff and not from the Trust who did not do me the courtesy of informing me of the decision.
“Local parents will be very concerned at this news and I am currently making contact with the trust to understand this decision and whether there is any opportunity to halt or delay it.”

Please would all parents and carer’s ensure their children DON’T become seriously ill or need emergency medical treatment after 10pm. Thanks.
Why?

The story is a little different to what is reported (it’s the usual MP twist of words)!
Yes the children’s A&E is shut at 10, but the normal A&E is still open so after 10, take your kids there.

This is simply not true, just another case of Rosie Cooper putting her mouth into gear before bothering to ascertain the facts.

If I had a child that was ill, in Southport. I would go straight to Liverpool.

I'm afraid that the trust has previous on this. They announce a temporary closure but then never reopen or confirm the closure.
