Merseyside Police were deployed to Southport . The aim of Operation Vermont was as follows:
• Reassurance to local communities
• Reduce crime and disorder
• Reduce the operating capacity of organised criminal gangs
• Develop an intelligence picture in these areas
• Improve Road safety
As a result of the operation 7 people were arrested for varied offences including drug supply possession of a section 5 firearm and Drug Driving. Numerous stop and searches were carried out and new Intel submitted along with the seizure of cash and other weapons.

this is what the public want....stop and search...people and cars....my friend had 4 men breaking in at the back of their house 2am sat night...scared off by neighbour....manchester rd near the town lights....very scary times...anyone saw anything please inform the police
