Drinking Clubs (yet again)
Chatting to my newly found brother in law reminded me about the Buccaneer Club, this was situated in the basement of a property at the top of Scarisbrick Avenue,
When there is nothing more to be said....Barrie goes and says it

I remember being taken in a drunken stupor to the Buff's Club and the Barn Club in '73. But I don't know where they were - just in the town centre. I vaguely remember the Barn Club sold drinks "out of hours" and had a small stage with a young lady who was removing her clothes. I'd just turned 15...

Didn't the Barn Club become the Medics club or vice versa?
Somewhere in the Swan Chippy?

My memory certainly isn't what it used to be, but I'm pretty sure there was a 'Barn Club' in Gordon St., somewhere on the right hand side heading out of town. Can anyone be a bit more specific?

I think the Swan proprietors took over what used to be the building which housed the Klik Klik club, but I can't for the life of me remember what they called it. I know Barry Wormersly played there with Roger Latham on keyboards.

Wasn't the "Aristocrat" somewhere near there?

I am pretty sure that the Klik Klik became the Aristocrat which is now called Danny Bees, where was the Top Hat ?
The Swan doesn't have an upstairs and I have this picture of the Klik Klik having lots of stairs with bands trying to get their gear up, then again I could have dreamt it !

barn club
I think the Barn club was on Gordon st, at the back of the flower shop at the north end of Lord st, The Klic Klic was next to the swan chippy, i remember seeing a lot of good groups there, the big three, the undertakers, rhythm and blues inc, and lots more, this was a great place to go after a few pints at the Bold vaults (Bold Hotel)

the aristocrat was in stanley st, but there are connections with the swan chippy, because keith kennedy ran the aristocrat & i believe he was in partnership with billy defty in the swan at one time.

As a taxi driver in the mid 60s I took alot of people home from the Tropicana on Eastbank St. Most of them lived down Heathfield Road and never paid their fare.
"Wait here a minute, love, and I'll just nip in the house for some money."
Also the RAF Club on Sussex Rd. There was a club down Hawthorne Grove, Meols Cop. Forgotten the name. My sister used to hang out at the Carstairs Club where there were some 'nice' people.

Ken B:I don't think Keith had any parnership with Billy Defty.
Tony Boyd was in parnership with him I think.
Margaret Kennedy ran the Aristocrat and you used to go up a flight of stairs in Stanley Street. You could have a laugh with Maragaret,my family see Keith and Margaret about sometimes
when they are in town.
Keith would not let my elder brother in one night,so my brother
got onto the false ceiling somehow I think just outside where you entered into the club.
He crawled along the ceiling, then it gave way and he landed
right in front of the bar.He stood there and said "Hello I thought
I would just drop in for a drink":
