A man has suffered a number of serious injuries following a collision in Ormskirk.
Police were called around 7.40pm on Monday (July 16) after an accident in Whiteley’s Lane.
A blue Ford Fiesta travelling eastbound had left the carriageway, colliding with a hedge and overturning in a field.
The driver of the Ford, an 18-year-old man from Skelmersdale, suffered a fractured skull, bleed on the brain, as well as serious neck and chest injuries. He was taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment is currently in a critical condition.
Three men, passengers in the vehicle, suffered minor injuries and were treated at Southport Hospital.
The road was closed for four hours while accident investigators attended the scene.
Temp Sgt Lee Harris, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are appealing for information following a serious collision in Ormskirk.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or saw the vehicle involved in the moments before the collision.
“If you can help, please call 101 quoting log reference 1376 of July 16.”
