Officers from Merseyside Police were using a mobile speed camera to trap unsuspecting motorists on Waterloo Road this morning.

The highly visible van has the slogan "no excuses safety first" on it.

Drivers going in the opposite direction were flashing their lights to warn others of the trap.

    Not unsuspecting, Speeding.

Why do you feel the need to keep posting this information?

I agree. This site needs to stop being against reducing speeds in the area. Too many drivers are driving at high speeds around the area with no regard for anyone else. As I have stated before, we have two drivers, one in a white sporty Audi/BMW and one in a black Golf (both mates) driving at high speeds down our 20mph road in Ainsdale. They also beep their horns to antagonise residents as they do. It has been happening for the past year. I welcome the Police speed checks.

I have seen comments on other forums saying that it is an offence to warn other drivers of a speed trap.

If that's the case, is this website not doing the same?

Personally I think it's a good thing. And no, Qlocal shouldn't be warning people....! Got this message this morning from a mate,

"My former colleagues are publishing the following all over social media - watch your speed tomorrow.

We are going to be taking part in the European "Speed Enforcement Marathon" Operation tomorrow, Wednesday 19 April.

The operation will run for 24 hours across Europe and officers in Merseyside will be focussing on areas voted for by members of the public through Twitter."

I remember seeing the twitter post requesting public input.

There would be a poetic justice to seeing either roving-eye or one of roving-eye's friends/relatives suffering the consequences of a speeding driver.

I'm not sure I agree with the publicising of speed cameras either. But it's a warped mind that wishes ill on someone, or even the family of someone who does so.
