Whilst at the station for weekly training, the Southport Quads were tasked by Holyhead Coastguard to investigate reports of a vehicle seen driving towards the water on Formby Beach.

The Quad team searched the entire beach from Weld Road down to the River Alt, only coming across fresh vehicle tracks left by local fishermen who had been putting their nets out.

The Southport Lifeboat, which was heading out on a training exercise, searched the tide line from Ainsdale to Taylor's Bank.

As the tracks entered and left the beach, the Coastguard concluded that It was most likely a fisherman who had been sighted and all units were stood down.
Also involved were Crosby CRT, the Police Helicopter and New Brighton Lifeboat.
