King George V College will be hosting a series of masterclasses in January and February 2018 for any Y11 student considering A-level progression from September 2018.

The Masterclass Programmes, at the popular sixth form college; recently graded Good by Ofsted, will run from 17th January 2018 - 7th February 2018 with sessions taking place after school every Wednesday afternoon from 4 - 5pm. Each week will focus on a different curriculum area, allowing prospective students to choose from a wide variety of individual subjects in areas such as Science, Maths, Social Sciences, Sport, Creative Arts, English, Modern Foreign Languages, Business and Enterprise.
The sessions, aimed at preparing students for post-16 study, provide the opportunity to have a go at a broad range of A level subjects, allowing prospective students to extend their knowledge beyond the current GCSE curriculum, whilst also offering a glimpse into college life. Each master class will also afford prospective students the opportunity to ask questions about higher level study and meet teaching staff.

Students can choose to attend the programme for the full four weeks or select just one session and do not need to have already applied to study at King George V College.

Sessions will run on the following dates and times:

Wednesday 17th January 2018, 4-5pm: Science, Maths and Social Sciences masterclass
Wednesday 24th January 2018, 4-5pm: Sports masterclass
Wednesday 31st January 2018, 4-5pm: Creative Arts, English, French and Spanish masterclass
Wednesday 7th February 2018, 4-5pm: Business and Enterprise masterclass and Future World Leaders masterclass

All sessions will take place at the main King George V College site, Scarisbrick New Road, Southport, PR8 6LR. Anyone interested in attending needs to email: schools@southport.ac.uk detailing which master class(es) they are interested in.
