A man and a woman were attacked and robbed by a bat-wielding gang in Southport on Saturday night.
The man suffered facial injuries and had money stolen in the attack, which saw four men hitting a white Ford Fiesta with bats.
The 29-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment
A 46-year-old woman, who was also in the car, was treated by paramedics after being cut in the face when a window was smashed.
The robbery took place on Southbank Road and the attackers are reported to have run away along Westmoreland Road.
Merseyside Police are now appealing for information as it investigates the robbery. A forensic examination of the scene and car has taken place and officers are investigating CCTV opportunities.
A police spokesman stated that witnesses are being spoken to and house to house enquiries being carried out.
The spokesman added: “Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 101 number, quoting incident reference 0517322413. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

It's "funtime for criminals" do what you want you won't get caught you could wander about armed to the teeth but the chances of getting stopped due to the cuts are almost non existent. The Police can't POLICE now they are reduced to a reactive force responding to crime instead of preventing it. If you can think of ANYTHING this god forsaken Tory Government has got right can you print it in Large Capitals on the back of a postage stamp.

The Labour Party bankrupted the country, they always do when they are in office.
It then takes the Tories many years to balance the books. Eventually, people forget and vote Labour back in, then the whole sorry circus starts again.

The Tories have never balanced the books and the UK has never been bankrupt.

The Tories have to keep adding chips to their shoulders to retain personal balance, most people who can actually count can clearly see that this current gang are financially incompetent.
Aided by the Tory press, Tories have contrived to paint the illusion that they and they alone are fit to control the country's finances, under their watch we have endured these draconian "cost savings", yet somehow we as a country have suffered higher inflation, lower productivity than anyone else, our debts nationally grow like Topsy, there is no sign of this misbegotten rabble reaching their so-called financial targets any time soon, the reality is as usual, money has been poured into kicking the low earners, gifting the wealthy with wallet bursting handouts, while telling the rest of us that we (as a country) can't afford a police force, health service, decent transport facilities or even a military defense.
Please go wrap yourself in the Mail or whatever other rag you get your facts from, but better still, open your eyes, look around, check the facts for yourself then come back and discuss.

I was a Special constable in the 80's and remember my first patrol. Me along with 20 Constables were on foot patrol in the town. We also had 4 cars and CID if needed. I remember being attached by criminal with a baseball bat. Within 2 minutes I had 15 Police backing me up. If it was not for the Back up I would have sustained more injuries. I only had a truncheon and had no chance. I would love to know how many Police we have patrolling in Southport. Southport need a custody Suite, CID and Traffic officers restored .Southport has become a soft target and the criminals can do what they want when they want. It is a pity that I can not get after the thugs and criminals ,but because I was Disabled by a criminal I am no longer able to lock them up.

Back when there was a global crash? The entire world financial problems were Labour's fault?
