Another great image from our "Classic Resort" as yet another drunk crawls along Lord Street trying to make their way home.
Is it time to shut the bars and clubs at a reasonable hour and stop selling alcohol 24 hours a day?
People are sat outside Weatherspoons at 9.00 am eating breakfast and having a pint surely there is no need for this.

We used to have sensible licensing laws but Tessa Jowell a Labour minister decided they should be scrapped in favour of open all hours. Another mess created by Labour.
Now let's hear all the labourites doing their usual rantings.

How do you know they are drunk from being in a bar or pub?!
People can walk or crawl through town without actually being at a licenced premises!!
Anyway even if they have, why should one idiot ruin it for the thousands that go out and enjoy themselves.
If you think this ‘classic’ seaside town has a drink problem, go to Blackpool at the weekend.

Well I suppose they bulldozed it through Parliament without there being a vote by ALL mp's including those dear to your heart. They Didn't make the British Railways into a cash cow for every State owned Railway in Europe. They didn't destroy British Industry making a cash cow for Worldwide Industrial Nations.
But I suppose changing the Licensing Hours is a heinous crime to some people. By the way what is sensible about opening a pub for 3 or 4 hours then shutting again for 2-3 hours then opening again. People wish to use these establishments at differing times as a lot of pubs now also do food there is the chance to eat when YOU want to eat. Plus pubs do sell soft drinks too! The fact that some people are unable to control their drinking to a sensible level is hardly the fault of ANY Political persuasion. If pubs only opened for an hour a day there would still be drunks crawling on the pavement as they would fill up before leaving home.
One thing I may be in agreement with is continuing selling alcohol to someone who has clearly had too much is Illegal and Pubs and Clubs should remember they can be held responsible for continuing to serve the inebriated.

Most of the drunks I see on Lord Street aren't using pubs or bars. They are sat on benches drinking out of cans and bottles. Or sat on the floor begging.
Try removing that particular blight first.

I'm not sure if you know or not but the Conservatives have had the last 7 years to change that.. And another 5 years before that too whilst in with the Liberal Democrats.

Why blame alcohol, there are other cheaper substances around that have similar effects, the centre of Manchester is littered with them 24/7.

I wondered how long it would be before some people turned this into a political argument. This is an issue for society as a whole. Getting drunk and making a prat of yourself is accepted as the norm by far too many people in this country. It's even seen as a badge of honour by some people. It's a disgrace. Have as many drinks as you like but don't inflict your Neanderthal behaviour on decent members of society.

But it IS a political issue, as it's the goverment who've cut the Police force to the bone whilst giving the thumbs-up to 24hr drinking. Everything that's done by goverment these days is to appease the do-gooders and minority groups. And this then gives the excretia that roam the streets the green light to act like a dick at every possible oppertunity.
