British Transport Police have confirmed a 42-year-old man was struck by a train and killed at Fisherman’s Crossing.
A 42-year-old man has sadly died after he was struck by a train at Fisherman’s Path crossing near Freshfield.
Officers from British Transport Police were called to the scene yesterday afternoon at approximately 4.45pm and attended alongside colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service.
This incident is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been informed.
A file will be prepared for the coroner.

This was another sad tragedy at this crossing. Unfortunately the picture is two years out of date, Network Rail to their credit have really improved this crossing and made it much safer.

I've lived here for almost 20 years now but cannot recall hearing of problems with this crossing point until the last 5 years or so. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this does seem to be a recent problem, even though the crossing has been made safer there are more fatalities there. Can anyone offer an explanation?
My condolences to all affected by this latest awful incident.
