Work has begun to restore the stone Balustrades in the Kings Gardens. Vandals destroyed a large section in November 2015.
Since then vandalism has been on the increase in the area.
At the time Sefton issued the following statement.
Cllr Ian Maher, Leader of Sefton Council, said: "Sadly, vandals have caused extensive damage to the balustrades near the play area causing thousands of pounds of unnecessary damage. "Not only is this extremely disappointing for us, but it ruins it for genuine park users and we hope the public feel our frustration over this stupid act of destruction. "King's Gardens is a real gem in Southport following its revamp last year costing millions of pounds from external funding and we want incidents like this to stop. “We are working closely with Merseyside Police to address this and we will be assisting them in their investigations."

Folks we are always going to have to put up with this "vandalism/Scumbag " its part and part of society nowadays it seems, unless......
When they if ever are caught they are really "Hammered" and I don't meant a fine nor suspended sentence etc just something that bloody well hurts. These Muppets are well ingrained into acting like "Tossers" so fine, treat them appropriately and give them "No Mercy", batter them till they get fed up!!!!
Sound savage??? So whats the answer?
Years ago some Ex Pat out in Thailand I believe was "hanged" for a drugs offence 2 young girls, the Public over here was..... "How outrageous, how barbaric etc, etc. etc . Does anybody from immediate "Family" bother now ???....... NO so that's how you should deal with this crap. But you have to catch them first and we don't do that really do we.
I am all for Heritage of the town, but sometimes you really have to take drastic action and we are at that time. "Why bother" what a crap quote if ever I heard one. Whats that quote?? "If a good man does nothing, bad men do......" I don't know the rest, but we have to stamp out these actions. Or it WILL get worse!

CCTV is completely useless for this sort of offence. It needs to be monitored 24/7 and if you have ever visited a CCTV operation centre you will see 2or3 officers monitoring 30+ screens and the screens flick between cameras. These thugs operate in an instant and are covered from head to toe. They plan their exit route before committing the offence.
The only way to prevent this is permanent patrols, they are very expensive and no one wants to pay and many security companies won't even do it.
We were involved in the instigation of the Security Patrols, 3 months ago, that everyone was against and although no one will believe it, they have prevented a fair bit of damage and led to some convictions and identifications. Time will tell thou because they are due to end in December and the damage will most likely be back and everyone will be crying 'where is the security' !

The weather must be too cold for our roving reporter to hang round there every day like he does in the summer.
