We would like to take this opportunity to update our supporters and followers about the situation regarding our sick kittens. We have recently taken the decision to quarantine the sanctuary cattery due to a virus that has unfortunately taken the lives of 5 of the kittens we had recently rescued. We have of course been in direct and regular contact with our vets and have followed all guidelines they have given us. We have now received test results which have identified the type of virus that we are dealing with which is enabling us to tailor our barrier nursing and procedures even more precisely to be more effective in fighting this infection.
In the fight to eliminate this virus from our cattery a dedicated team of our staff is following a strict decontamination regime including using specific products and disinfectant that are known to kill the virus along with increasing our levels of hygiene and cleaning practices. These procedures, whilst extremely necessary in these unfortunate conditions, do put an extra strain on our already hardworking team of Animal Carers not to mention extra stress on our already stretched finances. All of these are in addition to our usual running costs – both of which are funded solely from public donations, and so it is because of these extreme circumstances that we are asking once again, if you are in a position to do so – to please donate towards our cause. Every single donation, no matter how small goes directly towards the running of Woodlands Animal Sanctuary and in particular the additional costs we are incurring at this time.
If you would like to donate, you can do so in several ways:

On the advice of our vet we have disposed of all of our used cat bedding, toys, litter trays etc to help reduce the risk of the virus remaining in the environment. This does however mean that we are now very short of all these items and would welcome donations of cat blankets (microfibre/fleece ones are ideal due to their quick drying nature), towels, cat toys and scratchers as well as litter trays. We are in the process of setting up collection points around the local area. Please visit our website, www.animalsanctuary.org.uk or Facebook page for the latest information on this.
As always we are extremely grateful f
