Paramedics had to be called to the area between the 12th green and the 13th tee at Royal Birkdale today after a woman watching the golf slipped and badly injured her foot.
She was treated at the scene and then transferred by emergency buggy to the medical centre where there is a full time consultant on call for the duration of the Open.
Her condition is not thought to be too serious.

She was lucky, if she had an accident between the first and second hole they would have to get a bigger plaster.

I'm actually surprised this hasn't been attributed to the prices of the on course catering!
