Over the forthcoming weeks the club website will be moved to a new hosting platform, which will see increased reliability and performance for users accessing the site.

The club has been reviewing the current digital set up since the beginning of the season and a range of changes, upgrades and improvements will be installed in the coming weeks and months.

Webmaster James Cave said: “Since launching the new website in 2016, we’ve had a lot of time to evaluate the site’s performance, and consider the fan feedback provided.”

“We’re very happy with the general performance of the website since launch, having seen increased traffic, strong sales via our online shop, including the club’s first ever online season ticket sale, as well as the marketing information the site collects.”

“Having considered all of the feedback received, we know one of the most prominent issues has been server errors upon page loads. We know this has been frustrating for supporters, and myself and the team have privately shared in that frustration for some time. This is related to a configuration error on a CDN provided server to which we have no access.”

“When considering the future ambitions for the club, it became clear that a change of hosting providers was necessary, and I’m grateful to the Board for outsourcing additional help on this matter. While the planned migration is still a few weeks away, I’m confident this will be a big performance upgrade for the website and will provide a much better service to our supporters.”

“We were presented with several new challenges over the summer which the club is using as an opportunity to make improvements. The National League’s partnership with Scout7 now means the club is using more video analysis than ever before, so we established the club’s first ever video archive to support the management team with scouting and analysis. We’ve more day to day staff on site now so we’re also looking to implement additional tools, storage and office software provision for internal use.”

“With our full digital infrastructure under review, this would be a great time for supporters to send feedback or suggestions on the future of the site, the best way being to email online@southportfc.net

Full details of the club’s website and digital plans will announced once finalised.
