Tommy Fleetwoodâs Ryder Cup heroics can serve to inspire a brand new generation of âMunicipal Masters.â
Thatâs the hope of Green Sefton after the Southport born champion helped win back the Ryder Cup in a thrilling encounter and made international headlines in the process.
It is the latest success in a career which began over 18 years ago at Sefton Councilâs Municipal Golf Course on Park Road West, Southport.
The course, hailed as one of the very best Municipal courses in the country, has also helped produce top talent in Lee Slattery and Matthew Baldwin.
All three were members of Park Golf Club who use Southport Municipal as their course in an ongoing partnership with Sefton Council.
For as little as ÂŁ8 a round, budding golfers of all ages and abilities can try their hand at the sport and emulate the skill of the courseâs past masters
Green Sefton champion Cllr Ian Moncur, Sefton Councilâs Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: âWe have all been engrossed and encapsulated by Team Europeâs performance in the Ryder Cup and to have an ex Southport Muni star in that group makes us very proud.
âTommy, a former Sefton Sports Personality, is a fantastic role model for our wonderful borough and his skill is testament to the excellent golfing facilities which are available to anyone!
âWe hope Tommyâs Ryder Cup heroics will inspire a new generation of âMunicipal Mastersâ who can learn, develop and refine their golfing skills on either of our courses in Southport or Bootle.â
Green Sefton also maintain Bootle Golf Course on Dunnings Bridge Road. For more information about either Municipal, including pricing, opening hours and equipment hire, visit www.sefton.gov.uk
