The theme for this years Southport Flower Show is the Mediterranean and the weather was in keeping with that. Celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott opened the show with the newly crowned Miss England Liz Grant.

Local gardeners Alan Foxall and Steve Johnson won another Gold Medal this year for Simply Flowers and Foliage.

so much empty space at the show this year in the main tents and along the rotten row side.

It was well worth a look, my son enjoyed the stunt monkey motorbike lads and the falcon and horses show was quite spectacular, interesting and entertaining, it turns out that the showman went to school locally and performs internationally and the horse he was riding was the same one from the Lloyds bank advert.
The whole place was full and lots of interesting things to see and I know things there seem a bit expensive that's what you expect and that's ok but if there is one thing I will remember about today, we bagged up 4 average pieces of fudge from a pick and mix fudge stall then weighed them and the stallholder wanted £7.50 I gave him them back and told him he was having a laugh.
I haven't been since I grew too big to climb over the wall and only really went to show my young son but I really enjoyed the day.

I'm glad it makes money for the town but personally, I find this show very disappointing. It's a good few quid to get in and it's largely just an outdoor market with many stalls selling nothing whatsoever to do with gardening. Thought I was in for a full day out but left after an hour. Never going again and don't recommend.

Well I'm looking forward to going. I haven't been for about 3 years but Wifey and I really enjoyed it last time. My daughter will love it, we're going either Saturday or Sunday, haven't made our minds up yet, will probably depend on forecast.

Seriously, from what I remember, you can't actually look at everything within an hour.

There was loads on last time, bands, side attractions, the flower and veg displays and plenty of food and drink on sale. These things are price inflated and I would definitely have given that fella his £7.50 fudge back too. Seem to remember eating nice cakes last time...

Well if you can spend shed loads of money on tickets and stay for only an hour, must have money to burn.
