One of the most prominent pub restaurants in Southport 'The Waterfront Hungry Horse' has been receiving mixed reviews on the Tripadvisor website.

A lady from Wigan posted...

Absolutely shocking breakfast. Eggs hard boiled, the toast wasn’t toast it was cold bread. Hash browns arrived 5 minutes later for some reason. Lipstick on the orange juice glass too. I am no snob but this was awful

Visited for lunch today and have to say i was very disappointed, one member of staff with a very bad attitude, no blackcurrant cordial, no cups for a large latte and food was awful. not a very good advert for promoting Southport tourism

thank you for your review, I am saddened to hear your comments given that we have had a large amount of very positive feedback over the last few months, and would be keen to learn as to when it had gone "seriously downhill"l since?.

I would also be keen to learn which one of the members of the team had a "Very bad attitude", I cannot apologize enough that we had run out of Blackcurrant cordial, but still had the apple and blackcurrant available at no extra cost., and all of the "Large" latte mugs were in use by other guests. but a standard mug was offered at the cost of a regular size.

Called in for a snack whilst staying next door. had the sharing starter. Certainly more than enough for two, good selection, especially the Jalapeno bites. Drinks very reasonable, quick service. It does what it says on the tin, ie pub food at reasonable price.

A group of 8 of us came to Southport for a friends birthday and stopped at this hungry horse for a bite to eat, we were all very impressed with the speed and quality of the food, everything arrived at the same time and the staff were very pleasant. Tables were cleared as soon as we had finished aswell so we werent sitting there with our plates in front of us. Highly recommend and will return if at Southport again

What are your views on the Hungry Horse in Southport?

I honestly don't know why anyone is surprised. They are ALL chains, fast service, fast buck and crap product.

You can list them all:- Prezzo, Weatherspoons, Bistrot Pierre, MacDonalds, Zizzi's, Any Pub chain and there are loads etc etc etc. They don't cook anything from scratch whatsoever everything comes pre packed and the so called "chef" bungs it in a heating appliance presses the appropriate "code" and Bob's you uncle.

But you still keep going in don't you??
