The "Summer Of Golf" attraction that was placed in the gardens outside The Atkinson has now gone. Perhaps it would have been better to call it a "Week Of Golf"

The "Summer Of" surely means all Summer long not eight days!

Before the attraction was built, Hugh Evans, Southport BID Chief Executive said:

“The eyes of the sporting world will be on our town next month, the ‘Summer of Golf’ will be a great addition that will act as a hook to attract thousands of visitors back to the town centre ensuring all businesses benefit.”

Another wasted opportunity by the BID and the Council.

Well said.! Negativity reigns by the 'reporters' of this site...

Personally I would have thought that would have been a great attraction for many weeks. Just my opinion.

I agree it looked nice why not keep it longer ?

It seems the legacy from this huge event is slight for the people of Southport.

I can't believe just how anti Southport this website is, what a shame.

Roving is making a valid point with his observation. Some examples "schools out for Summer" "The Winter of discontent" "the Summer of 76" all long periods of time .

The "Summer of Golf" eight days!!!

If you're that bothered there's 6 golf courses, the crazy golf and the pitch and putt open all year round every year.

I agree that it should have stayed up for a little longer, however this being Southport it would have probably been destroyed by our little gang of feral youths, ripped down and the artificial grass puked on. Ha, how about that for negativity!

It was very good and my grandkids had a dabble,.
What people don't seem to comprehend is everything
has to be paid for. Well done to BID they've put a glimmer
of interest in a lot people's lives that otherwise would
    not have been.Well done.
