Southport welcome Boreham Wood to the Merseyrail Community Stadium on Saturday in the hope of registering their first win under Andy Preece.
The Wood come into the match with confidence having secured an impressive victory against title contenders Lincoln in midweek, having also beaten play off hopefuls Dover 5-0 a week earlier.
The contrast in form is there for all to see, however Southport showed signs of progression by scoring three times against York on Tuesday.
At the other end however, five were conceded and Southport’s defence, the leakiest in the league, will need to tighten if faint survival hopes are to be kept alive.
Preece has the option to throw new additions to the squad into action, as Fleetwood Town midfielder Spencer Myers joined on loan on Thursday, while youth players Matt Lavelle and Sam Grimshaw are also available.
Saturday could also see the return of Richard Brodie, having been an unused substitute against both Braintree and York.
