Southport supporters have taken to social media to vent their anger over the appointment of Alan Lewer .The new directors James Treadwell and Adrian Shandley are also being vilified.

Phil Hodgkinson who wants to take over the club and is a big favourite with the fans issued the following statement.

I received a letter today which I have been asked not to publicise you them, suffice to say it was pathetic, evasive , weak and quite frankly disrespectful.

THE GLOVES ARE NOW OFF.

I am buying this club, it is happening .

Back the bid campaign coming soon, it will be launched at a public meeting organised by me.

I want every single fan there that cares about the future of this football club, I want hundred of you there , and together WE will decide collectively as ONE how we are going to make this happen.

Football teams will have crap seasons, crap players, crap managers, crap facillties, but even in the darkest times there is an underlying belief that the owners want what's best for the club.
They might have no money and the team might be losing all the time, that's football, but nobody actively chooses to be crap.
Well that's exactly what Treadwell has done here. By ignoring a bid which could bring the club forwards JT + AS have actively chosen the worst option for SFC.
They clearly have placed their own egomania above what is best for the club. That is the hardest thing to take.

Why should any supporter turn up, when through their actions the owners have tacitly admitted they don't want what's best for the club?
The opportunity for investment, growth and hope was on the table, and they passed it up to protect their own positions.
It's absolutely scandalous.
