Responding to the final sacking of long-suspended NHS Manager Jonathan
Parry, local Health Spokesperson Councillor Tony Dawson said:
"We appear to be still some way from the end of this matter. There are
appeal processes and even potentially legal processes still to come.
Bizarrely, I understand that there are also disciplinary hearings taking
place about other former local NHS managers besides Mr Parry, despite them
having resigned or retired already. The cost of these processes will all
continue to detract from the provision of our local NHS."
"What concerns me rather more is that there is a draft Care Quality
Commission report as yet unpublished and being kept under tight wraps and
plans for the future of our hospital have been put forward to Ministers by
NHS Chiefs with no input whatsoever from anyone representing local people."
Jonathan Parry was suspended as Chief Executive of the Southport & Ormskirk
NHS Trust in August 2015. His dismissal has been announced today (25
October 2016)

I perhaps know that this is a somwhat simplistic post on this topic, however I am whole heartdly sick and tired of NHS Trusts, Chief Executives, Clinical managers and the endless lines of people working for the NHS or other major public organisations who are paid vast amounts of money for what.
Hospitals used to be run by Docs, Consultants,Matrons etc etc to the benefit of consumers, us poor sick people when the time arises. The NHS would not have a so called "funding" issue if all or the majority of this lot were put out to grass.
Example, I have a good friend working for the NHS in a Senior position £50k a year complete with team of 16/20 trainers each on £20k plus and I've had to ask what he actually does for that salary a couple of times!
Basically it boiled down to something I was doing in another large corporation for half that with 6 people covering the North West and East, and he is based in just one hospital.
There is loads of money in the NHS, its just being spent on the wrong things again and again.
Jonathan Parry is just another example of waste, waste of money disciplining him and waste of money paying him and others like him.

Why are we not told what he and the others are said to have done, we the public who indirectly pay these hospital managers very generous salaries have been treated like mushrooms in this serious matter. When someone is arrested and charged by the Police, immediately the charge is in the public domain, it does not necessarily imply guilt. So why the silence? Perhaps a FOI request is called for and if that fails bang on doors higher up. We want justification for the considerable sums of money spent in this farce.
I understand Parry was dismissed for gross misconduct for which one can be instantly dismissed, so why did that not happen as that is what happens in industry.
Incidentally I totally agree with "paulollie" and have similar knowledge of someone employed in our local Trust who agrees he is overpaid in comparison to lndustry.

Usual pattern:
Ages for anything to happen ... "gardening leave" or suspension on full pay for ages .... finally leaves or is dismissed ..... then will pop up again in another well-paid role for another NHS trust or consulting firm in the NHS market. (Repeat ad nauseam.)
Our National Sickness Service isn't much of a jewel.

I really don't know why the Libs do this to themselves as having a "lib dem response" of this kind just makes them look weak or content free as ultimately all this says is:
1) we are annoyed this has cost so much --- well who isnt
2) it's not over as the NHS have to follow employment law and process of tribunal, appeal etc
3) Cllr Dawson is annoyed the NHS don't feel that they need to contact/consult him
The last point is the most telling and his issue not theirs but ultimately highlights our unelected spokesman/watchdog has no teeth so maybe someone else should have a go.
