In a clean-up led by MP Damien Moore, enough plastic to fill thirty bags was recovered from Ainsdale beach.

‘We regularly welcome tens of thousands of tourists to our town’, Damien said. ‘They are attracted to our fairs, our gardens - and our beaches.

‘I believe we all need to work together to make sure Southport stays a beautiful place to be.’

Damien was joined by forty volunteers over the course of the afternoon - including teams from the Kew and Ocean Plaza McDonald’s.

‘Local community groups in Southport really are the heart and soul of this town’, he told them before the clean-up began. ‘Whether it’s Lord Street or out here on the beach, we can show the difference people working together in the community can do.’

Ainsdale was the first of several planned beach clean-ups. If you would like to be involved, email the Southport MP at: damien.moore.mp@parliament.uk
