Ten thousand pounds will be awarded when Britain’s best high street is announced later this year. MP Damien Moore is backing Wesley Street for the cash prize.

‘It has so much to boast about,’ Damien said, ‘and winning Great British High Street will recognise the hard work of some of our town’s most successful entrepreneurs.’

He met Katie Hedley, founder of the arts and crafts shop Creative Studio; Jack Kelly, whose electrical store has operated for over fifty years; and the owners of Saratoga Antiques.

As well as supporting them for the high street award, the Southport MP promised to lobby for better signage in order for the road to attract more footfall.

‘The high street is at the centre of our community, and Wesley Street epitomises the creativity of the businesses in our town.’
