Lambentations are a sheep protection group started last year with the aim of eventually getting sheep racing banned.

We raise petitions for various sheep races up and down the country to be cancelled.

So far we have successfully got 6 sheep races cancelled, including Moffat in Scotland and Llandovery Festival last year.

We have just had our most recent success.

We were alerted by a concerned local that the Southport Flower Show had planned to hold sheep racing as part of their event.

We raised a petition and it has received over 22,000 signatures.

Yesterday Lambentations received a lovely email from the flower show advising us that they have now decided to cancel the sheep race:

"Hi Samantha, Joshua and Carol. I'm reaching out on behalf of the Southport Flower Show, I'm from the creative agency who help to manage their social media, among other things. Southport Flower Show are incredibly sorry for any offence caused.

Following internal discussions, Southport Flower Show have made the decision to cancel The Lamb National display. It was never their intention to endanger the safety of the animals involved; they appreciate that the display would be unnecessary and we all thoroughly believe animals must be respected and protected. We hope that the show will be enjoyed by all those attending, including our animal friends."

Just think the hurt that the poor flowers must go through to be cut with a knife when prepared to be shown.
So the showing of flowers should also be banned.

Let’s see, what else can the ‘Perfect People’ ban.

Lambentations? Are these people for real. If animals were being hurt yes but really come. Hiw far PC will this country go next. Unbelievable.

Do they still have bee keeping demonstrations? If so this is clearly exploitation of bees.Should be banned.

    How bloody stupid are they?
This ridiculous organisation would be better off stopping the horrific practice of hanging sheep upside down by their legs and having their throats slashed whilst still alive.
Disgraceful medieval Halal and Kosher routines.
    The world's gone mad.

Initially I thought this was a joke. If these people have a lot of spare time for causes, why not find one worth fighting. For gods sake get a grip!!!

Couldn't agree more with Squirrel2. Inhumane savages!!
