The club are proud to announce that David Morgan is now the First Team Captain for the foreseeable future. The 24 year-old signed a contract extension to 2020 back in July and is a physical presence in the centre of the pitch.
"It’s a huge privilege. I’ve been here just over a year now, so I think I’ve made my mark on the team and hopefully now I can lead by example."
David on the getting the armband.
David has all the characteristics to make a great captain, with the management team opting for a player who can act as a consummate professional on and off the pitch whilst representing Southport Football Club.
Making 38 (3) appearances, scoring twice so far, he is a regular in the team and was given the captaincy at the weekend after discussions in the week.
Everyone connected with the club are delighted with the appointment following David Lynch’s departure.
