Damien Moore will stand for election in Southport for the second time, after being defeated by John Pugh in 2015.
The Conservative candidate lost to MP John Pugh by just 1,300 votes at the last general election, and will be looking to close the gap this election as the Lib Dem retires from parliamentary politics.
He faces a tough battle against the popular Sue McGuire.

Mainly because of untrue statements by competitors about him not living in Southport. But he does, he lives just around the corner from me here in Ainsdale, and he is a very nice man.

It is time we had some fresh political blood in this town, the existing councillors have little or no impact in council meetings in Bootle.
Not one of the candidates for the Mayoral Election has mentioned Southport, a town of some Ninety four thousand people in their plans for the future in the booklet delivered to each eligible voter. Various candidates mention Prescott, Huyton, Knowsley, and Liverpool City Regon, to name but a few. We are lumped in with Sefton.

Although not a council election (which in my view would be better if were party neutral then it would be about benefit to the town rather than for their little "clubs") I do agree, voting lib is voting for more of the same which frankly has not benefited the town. At least they weren't silly enough to put Cllt Dawson forward so shows they do want to win.
Although I don't agree with the tory policy Damien does seem like a good guy with energy which could be what the town needs! We will here a lot of the "is he local" nonsense as already started by Cllr Dawson on the other site, which of course be balanced with if "local" is so important why are Cllr Maguires businesses not local and the Lib Dem propaganda published miles away....the only "local lib investment" seems to be renting an office from another councillor and receiving a quarterly donation in return.

If he lives in Ainsdale, how does he qualify to be a Councillor in Preston? It shows the state of the local Conservative party that they are unable to field a candidate from the ranks of their own councillors.

I can honestly say that where someone lives had never had any bearing on my voting behaviour.
I prefer to make a decision based on policies and actions.

So if your preferred "local councillor" lived in Reading for instance you would consider him or her.

It is well past the time that we had some fresh blood in the council in Southport - hopefully someone with the same sympathies as the people of the town, who want to see Southport back as a thriving sea side resort instead of a Liverpool City lay by. It will take someone who is strong and determined and has common sense. This would make a nice change.

That's not what he tells his council constituents in Preston.
According to http://preston.moderngov.co.uk/mgUse...x?UID=50000160 he gives his home address as being in Fulwood, North Preston.
Have you got him mixed up with someone else, cotton man?

Sorry, what's dated 2012?
That he used to live in Ainsdale but now lives in Preston?
Because the Preston Council website isn't dated 2012, it's live as of today.
i.e. if you are a resident of Greyfriars Ward in Preston, Cllr Moore is telling you he currently lives in Fulwood, North Preston.

He will need to beef up his profile and get out and about. Danger he remains invisible as compared to the Lib/Dem bluster.

That is not true.
Councillor Moore lives in Preston.
His input into what Southport residents want is zero. Therefore, he can only be seen as a very hopeful paper candidate.
Southport Tories must be so desperate. Their in-fighting has destroyed them along with the severe trouncing they had at the last election under Terry Jones' cock-eyed guidance. And then there is the Barton fiasco.
Oh dear, Cllr Moore must be a glutton for punishment.
