The Southport BID funded Christmas Light Tree outside the Atkinson is already broken.

Pictures clearly show that a electrical connection box is for indoor use.

The box is open to the elements.

Pictured at 3am this morning the top section of lights had malfunctioned.

No figures have been released by the BID as to how much the tree cost.

Many town centre shopkeepers are unhappy about the BID levy that they are forced to pay.

The IP44 marking means it's suitable for outdoor use. The technical info given shows expected conditions for indoor use, expected conditions can't be given for outdoor use as it depends on weather conditions, temperature etc, which vary greatly. If it was for indoor use only it would be required to state "For indoor use only", however it is IP44 marked which means fine for outdoor use.

The cone looks crap in daylight and now crap at night too. At least when the lights fail on a real tree you still have something festive to look at. Not just a meccano set.

Why let the facts get in the way of a good non-story?

The IP44 rating is common in outdoor lighting. If you need to jet-clean the light fitting or immerse it in water you’ll need a greater level of protection, but for most purposes the IP44 specification will suffice.

You talk of shame and embarrassment yet you can't even construct a sentence using the correct words.

why do councillors seek to denigrate others literacy, and seek personal insult and deprecation when faced with other point of view .that is just plain discrimination and bullying.and borders on sociopathic tendancies!
