Unfortunately further delays are currently being experienced at the junction improvement scheme on the A565 South Road/Haigh Road in Waterloo.

The delays are due to unexpected essential works to be carried out by external contractors.

This means that Cambrianway, who are the main contractor for the scheme, are unable to continue their works to improve the junction until the other statutory service providers have finished.

Sefton Council and other contractor Mouchel Consulting are working with the statutory service providers to identify an overall programme for the remaining works and to minimise these delays were possible.

Cllr John Fairclough, Cabinet Member Locality Services, said: "Unfortunately, and through no fault of our own, further delays are expected with this very important scheme to enable this essential work to be completed safely.

"We can only apologise for this and hope residents and drivers continue to understand our position and appreciate the overall benefits of this project once complete.

"As soon as we are in position to announce when the scheme should finish, we will let people know.

"Throughout the works both Cambrianway, our contractor and Mouchel Consulting, our engineers , have worked hard to minimise delays to the overall programme and we look forward to the new look junction opening."
