Residents of the Kew Estate in Southport are at their wits end regarding the weeds in the streets. One resident told Qlocal that its over a year since the council did any form of weeding or spraying.
Whole sections of the pavements a re covered in weeds.

That's disgusting.. As we already have the worst kept roadways in Europe. I wonder how long it will be before all the roads in this country are like those in Nepal.

As long as folk are happy to live with the council cuts, the NHS cuts and the general load on the system, the worse it will get.. And perhaps then the Nepal comment will become relevant? Or perhaps certain folk are just fine with.... No matter how bad it gets it's still all right.

Contractors on quad bikes sprayed on Churchgate about a week ago, late evening. Then my wife saw them spraying on Leicester street, one of the few streets virtually weed free, on Tuesday. Obviously working to a set agenda regardless of the level of weed infestation.

Ainsdale is at least as bad. I do wonder what on earth we pay our Council Tax for. Every year it goes up by the maximum permissible (plus extras masquerading as Police & Fire Service add-ons) and every year we get less and less for our money. Either someone at the top is pocketing vast sums or there is mismanagement on an epic scale. Meanwhile, the grass on the by-pass is cut once a fortnight. Not like it grows back or anything .....

I don't suppose it's anything to do with the fact that the estate was built on an old landfill site, there'll be plenty of chemicals to aid the proliferation of the weeds no doubt. I seem to recall the pre active use of weed killers before the weeds grew, but then along came the EU directive and weeds had to be actively growing before a weed killer could be used.

You sound as though you work for the council in your posts. It is not the job of residents to report weeds, it is the job of the council to maintain the pavements and do annual/biannual weed spraying. You either do not live in Southport or you do not get out much if you have not seen the high number of weeds growing out of the pavements in the area. It seems things only get done in Southport when complaints are made public on this site - therefore, can Sefton Council please sort out the pothole on Roe Lane just before the lights with Norwood Avenue, before it causes damage to our tyres and steering racks.
