Festive fun is just around the corner as town and village centres across Sefton get ready to switch on their Christmas lights.

Following a successful Christmas lights switch on at Bootle Strand at the weekend (November 11), events will be taking place in numerous village and town centres throughout the borough, with a range of festive fun for all the family.

The events are delivered through a partnership between business communities, local residents, voluntary and charity organisations, and Sefton Council.

Funding is secured through the private, voluntary and public sector to encourage people to shop local in the run up to Christmas.

Cllr Trish Hardy, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said: “Christmas lights switch-ons always prove to be popular events and are a great opportunity for local people and families to get into the festive spirit.

“We hope plenty of people will come out and support their local traders in the run up to Christmas and shop local, and we are very grateful for the hard work and community spirit which goes into these important events.”

Southport Christmas Lights Switch On takes place on Sunday November 19 from 1pm, with Lord Street boulevard and the Atkinson being lit up in a festive glow from 5.30pm.

Kirkstone Park – Thursday, November 23 from 5pm
