Sefton’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) residents are being invited to a new monthly social and support evening which is being launched later this week.

The first event will take place at the Kindfulness Coffee Club at 158 Knowsley Road in Bootle from 7pm to 8.30pm this coming Thursday, 28th September.

The event is being organised by Embrace, one of a number of equalities networks run by community support specialists, Sefton CVS.

As well as organising events and providing support, Embrace acts as a consultation mechanism. liaising with decision makers in the borough on matters that affect the borough's LGBT residents.

Organisers of the new event hope that it will attract a lot of interest. Embrace Co-Chair Rach O’Brien commented: “All lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people who live, work or play in Sefton are welcome to come along.

“It will be a great opportunity to meet new like-minded members of the LGBT community, and to access information, advice or support on LGBT issues.”

Her Co-Chair, Dr Mike Homfray, added: “The event will also give guests the chance to find out more about what the Embrace network does, and if they wish to get involved in its work in the future.”

For more information about the Embrace social and support evening local people can email embracesefton@gmail.com or ring Mike Homfray on 07970 680483 or Rach O’Brien on 07903 773395.

More ridiculous identity politics from the public sector complete with gloopy "kindfulness" and lots of "embrace" bollocks. Pass the sick bucket.

I find myself in agreement with the sentiments expressed. I'm a middle-aged old fart with a bit of arthritis and a moderately curmudgeonly outlook on the world. I am however very tolerant of other people's lifestyle choices as long as they don't adversly impact on society in general.
Here though lies the dilemma - whilst wishing to continue with such an ambivalent outlook I find myself asking - how much Public money is wasted, yes wasted, on these projects/ initiatives/interventions (whichever buzzword you prefer)?
I ask this because every pound spent on this PC nonsense out of the Public purse means a pound less for real services such as Police, Fire, Ambulance, Teachers, Nurses- for once the list really is endless.
