Two buildings in the borough are set to shine in honour of the year’s Pride.

The Atkinson, Southport and Crosby Library will be lit up in the colours of the rainbow flag as part of a new three year initiative to help the Liverpool City Region become more visibly LGBT friendly.

Cllr Ian Maher, Labour Leader of Sefton Council, said: “We are delighted to take part in this project and show that Sefton Council supports the LGBT community and Liverpool Pride.

“The Rainbow Flag represents the diversity of the LGBT community, many of whom will be residents in our borough, and it is with pride that the symbol will adorn two of our buildings from July 23 – July 31.

“Given the recent tragic events in Orlando, it is important that we are defiant against hate crime and show those affected that we will always stand side by side with them.”

Other buildings to be lit up across the region include, Goodison Park, Anfield, St George’s Hall and many more.
