The RBS branch in Birkdale is set to close on the 6th November 2018.
RBS have issued the following statement.
Royal Bank of Scotland Southport Birkdale branch will
close on 6th November 2018. Our branch staff are
available to answer any further questions that you may
have or you can contact your Area Director: Gaynor
Strickleton; 07786 111 441; gaynor.strickleton@rbs.co.uk
We have recently announced that we’re closing some branches in England & Wales.
Closing a branch is a decision we take very seriously. We know it can affect people in the local area and we’ll always work hard to guide you through the changes and find the best way to serve you.
The world of banking has changed a lot lately and the changes show no sign of slowing down. These are some of the things we’re experiencing that mean we can’t offer the same number of branches as we have in the past:
• More people are doing their day-to-day banking online, by mobile app, or over the phone
• More people are even doing bigger things that way, like opening a business account or getting a loan
• Fewer people visit branches and do fewer transactions when they’re there
• People often use a branch that is more convenient to them, and not one branch consistently
• People contact us in a variety of ways and today very few people only do their banking in a branch

This was another apparent "success" touted in Damien Moore's recent leaflet, he claimed he'd arranged an "urgent meeting" with the RBS Public Affairs Manager who had agreed with him to keep the branch open... much like the other false flags Damien waved in his pamphlet then!

Yes, more and more people are doing internet banking, because they have too. The more branches they close down, the more people will have to move across to internet banking, but what some of are aged population who don't have or can't use computers, what are they supposed to do??
Here's a thought, perhaps this is something one of our prospective Councillors could take on board and run with instead of the inherent blame culture we have at the minute.

RBS is a business. No councillor or MP is going to influence which branches they keep open.

The truth is more and more people, I'm 58 and have been using internet banking for years, and it will grow. As for the "Aged population" and what will they do, simply "Die" off that's how every government, business or individual gets their way in the end cruel maybe sad but nevertheless fact.
Do you remember not too long ago when "Chip & Pin" was introduced and they said what will the aged do? well......... live with it or die off, simples.

The scariest thing about that is that I'm only a year younger and have never considered that anybody would think me "too old for technology".

It shows the complete disdain that all banks have to their customers.
They hold your money and don't give a flying fig if you can access it.
I am 67 and my 6 accounts, business and private, have been on-line for years, so I am not against internet banking in any way and rely on it.
A branch is still required for many things like paying in cash & cheques (at the moment) and telephone banking is not all it is cracked up to be.
Look at the recent computer failure where other peoples accounts were shown to different people and no one could get to their money out.
You cannot talk to an ATM.
