Detectives in Southport are investigating following a robbery at a jewellers(Saturday, 16 September).

Officers were called to John Bell Jewellers on King Street shortly after midday to reports three men had entered the premises and threatened members of staff. One of the offenders was holding a crowbar and a member of staff was punched.

The offenders, who wore dark clothes and had their faces covered, then smashed a glass cabinet and took a quantity of jewellery and watches, which they put in a plastic crate. They then left and got into a vehicle before driving away.

Significant damage was caused to the shop during the incident.

I called into that shop just once - never again! I asked how much three 18ct. gold rings were worth. I was quoted a ridiculously low amount, and then I was asked if I wanted to sell them. I politely refused and the jeweller literally threw the rings back down on the counter. He was extremely rude! I had the rings valued at Jacksons and was quoted more than twice the price.
I have never seen any customers in Bell's - I guess other people must receive the same treatment.

Im horrified by what I have read today and what has been said by the some of the users above me.

Apart from the fact that they have failed to show any concern for the person who was attacked physically in the shop, they are more interested in posting rubbish.

Is this what our town has come to, are we that callous?

I hope the user "Said" never has to experience what he people in the shop had to experience.

And on that subject I have shopped in Bell Jewellers before, and have found them extremely helpful, especially the young man who is also a Doctor. I know for a fact that the other shop you mentioned dont even buy 2nd hand jewellery so they could not have given you a price. How do I know that, because I have tried to sell a ring there once!

I have emailed the shop and intend to visit them on Monday to given them my full support and let them know that the decent people of southport (less some of the hermits that use this qlocal) are behind them.

If they were the last jewellers on earth I still wouldn't enter that dump .

Has this shop still got the same owners as 2007?

Quite. It's diversidee and virtue signalling that's the most important job for the coppers these days.

Absolutely horrified to hear about the attack on Bell Jewellers. It is a sad sign of our times that people resort to commit crimes like this.

Whats even more disgusting is the comments left by a few others. Its obvious they are competitors of the shop, anyone can see that, maybe except the idiots that have posted them!

I have been buying jewellery for years and have a collection that will revile a few jewellers wives, which means I know about jewellery.

I recently shopped at Bells and I can say I was amazed by the selection they actually have of Diamonds and Rolex watches they have. If they are not good enough for you, you need to go and take your medicine!

The only positive I can see about the increase in crime in our communities is that hopefully one day the thieves will target some of the users above and maybe that will put some sense into them and make them more humane.
