West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has welcomed £66,000 funding to improve road safety on the Cottage Lane and Halsall Lane areas of Ormskirk by Lancashire County Council.
Funding from the Highways and Transport Capital Programme is being used to install traffic-calming measures and address road safety concerns, issues Rosie has been raising on behalf of local residents.
Speaking about the investment, West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said "Lancashire County Council have recognised that there are problems with speeding vehicles on these roads.
"Drivers tend to use them as a rat-run when travelling into and out of Ormskirk causing serious road safety concerns for local residents.
"This substantial involvement shows a real commitment by Lancashire County Council as the highways authority to tackle these safety concerns."

Hmm, I wonder if this will translate into £66,000 worth of speed bumps, or similar?

I don't know they're bothering it's already designated a 20mph zone, and, the road surface is probably the worst in Lancashire, so bad that's it's almost impossible to reach that speed.

its a narrow twisty bendy road that is impossible to do at speed , if anything it could with improving not being made more difficult to use ..... and it is a route in and out of Ormskirk , not a rat run !!!

for god sake it wont cure the problem....too many cars for too few roads, build a new road from the m58 to southport, its been shoved to one side for 20 years, just go for it, the council had no problem building on hundreds of acres of farmland for the pretend ormskirk university (i use that term with loathing)....so just build what we all know we need..new roads

No such thing as a rat run. A road is a road.
