The Annual Rainbow House Ramble will take place on Saturday 12th May!
Starting at 10am from Bishop Rawstorne High, Croston, participants can choose a 5 or 11 mile route taking them through Croston, Mawdesley and Eccleston in the beautiful Lancashire countryside and returning to Bishop Rawstorne High School where they will collect their medal.
Hundreds take part each year and it’s a great way to have fun, keep fit and raise much needed funds for the charity. Fancy dress is encouraged and there is likely to be everything from butterflies and bumble bees to rainbows and jesters. Really enthusiastic participants run rather than ramble and many families are accompanied by their dogs.
There will be live music from Two Notes and Rainbow House mascots Drew and Lobby Lou will be at the start to take part in the fun and help one of the children supported by Rainbow House to cut the ribbon to start the event.
The registration fee is £15 for adults and £5 for children under 16 with children in push chairs and wheelchairs free - all participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship and receive a pack including a t shirt, sponsorship forms and training tips.
The event is supported by Goldseal, Trust Inns and Morrow Brothers Ltd, while marshals along the route and first aid cover will be provided North West Event Medical Solutions and a warm up session will be run by Rachel Bryan from Fitbop who not only support the Ramble but also gives up some of her time to run fitness classes each week for the parents of children attending Rainbow House.
Ben Blackman, Chief Executive, Rainbow House, said “The response to the annual Ramble is always fantastic and we are so grateful to Goldseal, Trust Inns and Morrow Brothers Ltd and the numerous people who provide support. There are too many to name them individually but we thank each and every one who works so hard to make this event possible and supports us with food, drinks, gifts and their time.â€
Many of the families with children and young people who attend Rainbow House will be taking part or helping at the event including Jonathan Knowles from Todmorden who will be DJ for the day.
Jonathan has cerebral palsy and has been attending conductive education sessions at the centre for around 10 years which he says has changed his life.
