Lancashire County Council confirmed schoolgirl Saffie Rose Roussos was among the 22 people who died.

She was at the concert with her mother Lisa Roussos and Saffie's sister, Ashlee Bromwich, aged in her 20s, from Leyland, Lancashire, who are both now in separate hospitals being treated for injuries, friends said.

Chris Upton, head teacher at Tarleton Community Primary School, said Saffie had been "simply a beautiful little girl in every aspect of the word.

"She was loved by everyone and her warmth and kindness will be remembered fondly."

He said: "News of Saffie's death in this appalling attack has come as a tremendous shock to all of us and I would like to send our deepest condolences to all of her family and friends.

"The thought that anyone could go out to a concert and not come home is heartbreaking.

"Our focus is now on helping pupils and staff cope with this shocking news and we have called in specialist support from Lancashire County Council to help us do that."

Attacking innocent children is a new low in terrorism. Thoughts with the family and friends of a lovely young girl who has been taken away in the most horrible of circumstances.

Apparently the bomber's father claims his son was innocent. Perhaps he was carrying a nail bomb designed to kill and maim innocent people by accident then. Like you do.

Let's hope he rots in hell because he's going to be pretty damned disappointed when he arrives in what he thinks is heaven only to find that all those virgins he had been promised are elsewhere.
