Pontins is once again getting bad reviews after a couple from Scotland were faced with a dirty and damp Chalet which Pontins refused to clean as there were no cleaners on site. They left and booked into a B&B in Southport.
Other people have had similar experiences with one couple heading their review on Tripadvisor as "one night in a dirty death camp"
"We were given a chalet with no bedding or towels and a fold out sofa bed. Room was dirty, big box analogue TV with snow storm picture. NO WIFI in room as stated. Really worn out room."
As soon as you arrive, it's like stepping back in time, or into a concentration camp. All the facilities are tired and faded and half of them out of order/broken.
The whole complex needs ripped down and never to be spoken of again.
Please, please, please never go here. It is a dive. And you will hate it.
On the plus side some people actually like it...
The chalet I shared with my niece nd daughter was really clean and just what was needed. Everything provided for self catering. Place was not dirty as states in a lot of reviews of the place. Fantastic atmosphere

Pontins should be bulldozed!!!! It's in a terrible state and is not a good advert for Southport's tourism trade. It is bad enough that holiday makers (who arrive by train) have to trudge their luggage two miles up the road, but to get there and be greeted with horrendous accommodation is shameful!

Pontins, The Brick and PoW have become a carbuncle for the town's reputation regarding accommodation.
I feel ashamed that unsuspecting visitors have to put up with such appalling standards.

We see the poor holidaymakers trudging down Shore Road on a regular basis and I always say to my husband "How bad must be the places where they live if Pontins is an attractive alternative for a weekend?". We don't know how lucky we are.
I agree, the site needs bulldozing, landscaping and turning into a car park for the beach. Then perhaps Toad Hall could be restored and turned into a lovely hotel.

Nearly, 2000 reviews state that it poor to terrible! Why anyone would think to go there I do not know. It would be far better if Centre Parcs took it over, demolished the out of date and disgusting facilities and provided a better family friendly holiday experience. However, I'd go with the car park idea too.

Unfortunately it's very unlikely to happen although it is the best solution unless Brittania Hotels wish to dispose of the site and an investor/council partnership has the imagination to push it forward.
