Merseyside Police officers were searching the undergrowth in Princes Park this morning.
An Officer with a scythe was hacking away at the overgrown bushes and grass.
It is thought that the Officers were continuing the search for missing man Carl Lake.
Mr Lake, who was from the Bootle area, was last seen around 5.30pm in the vicinity of Coronation Walk but hasn’t been seen since.
An investigation remains ongoing and extensive enquiries have been carried out in the Southport area and other areas of Merseyside including searches of open land, the coastline and areas of water.
Officers are concerned that Mr Lake, who was in ill health and considered vulnerable, may have made his way onto private land and are asking local residents and businesses for assistance in checking areas including external outhouses, back entries or alleyways or bin storage areas, particularly in areas around Southport town centre, Meols Cop, Kew, Marshside, Churchtown and as far south as Birkdale.
Detective Inspector Jackie Guinness, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have carried out extensive searches around the Southport area to find Mr Lake and that will continue.
“There is a possibility that Mr Lake has somehow stumbled onto private business/commercial/residential property, specifically around the Southport town centre area.

If Mr. Lake is in Southport - he will not be out in the open, he will be in a closed area, such as a building or similar.
