Officers from Merseyside Police were out on patrol in the Kings Gardens last night.

The area has suffered badly from vandalism over recent years and high visibility patrols are being used to deter the vandals.

It's a bit like 'Whack-A-Mole': the police patrol Kings Gardens, so the scrotes move to Lord Street and Eastbank Street.

Seems a bit pointless turning up in highly visible, marked Police cars. Merseyside Police have plenty of unmarked cars in the fleet, surely they’d have a better chance of catching these hooligans if they didn’t make themselves so visible.

You don't need to be a criminologist to work out that there won't be much vandalism while there's a visible police presence.

I tend to agree with 'justbecause' who suggested the idea of unmarked vehicles doing patrols in the vicinity of the problem areas. Whether there is the will or the resources to deploy such a measure is another debate.

For what it's worth, my suspicion is that recent anti social behaviour is the responsibility of a relatively small number of retarded delinquents who have no conception of respect or discipline.

What's the point of an unmarked car patrolling Kings Gardens? It's not as if normal traffic is allowed there so it's obvious it would be the police.

you dont want high vis policing...you want to actually capture and bang up the criminals,,hide away and capture them, not scare them away to another location..could the police be more stupid?

I go to Italy quite a bit....loads and loads and loads of marked Police in every town, city etc and guess what no "Mindless vandalism"

Because if you are caught by anyone of them Carabinieri, Polizia whoever they knock seven bells out of you plus bang you up as a good measure and that's in Palermo!!!!

Police bashing day is it ?????
You all know better than the police.
High visibility in Italy ??? C...
What the hell do you people want,
you obviously don't have a clue regarding
the cost and the pc brigade restricting
    their abilities.
The police do a good job , please tell
me that these vandals are not related
to yourselves. This you can not do.

Looking at the time you posted this and - the content of the post - I can only assume you decided you'd had enough and didn't stay for last orders.

The comments made by other posters are perfectly reasonable.

First - if you have a group of people behaving badly in an area and you put in a high visibility presence then yes - they move on and mis-behave elswhere.
Second - I think the majority of people do understand the limits placed on the Police with regard to 'instant retribution'.
Third - the cost consideration is very pertinent and, what is happening is the cheap option - a couple of Officers driving around an area in a nice warm car.
Fourth - in this instance the Police are most certainly not doing a good job through being hamstrung as indicated above.
Fifth - how you make the connection between posters and the miscreants is baffling unless, as I suspect, strong drink is involved somewhere along the line.

Nobody bashed the Police and most would understand that the Officers on the ground are merely operating as directed.

And NO I don't know half or even any of the Shite that causes these problems. If I did I would have had a vasectomy.. Muppet
