Cyclists riding on the pavement and jumping red lights...never.
On a more serious note, it’s good that the Police have finally realised just how dangerously some of these people behave, and have started doing something about it.

Whilst I agree that they should be fined for going through a red light if using the road and should not be riding in busy places like Chapel Street, as long as cyclists are riding safely and slowly on the pavement, I have no problem with it, if the pavement is wide enough. The roads are hazardous for cyclists and unless you provide cycle lanes, they should be allowed to use the pavement. Yes, fine idiots riding at speed on pavements, but not those who are just too afraid to use the roads due to the traffic.

It's not the roads that are the problem for cyclists, it's the intimidating way some people drive!
When drivers (of cars/vans/juggernauts) wait till the way ahead is clear before passing cyclists leaving 1.5m clearance. When they check mirrors for bikes when turning left. When they look twice for bikes before exiting side roads.......Then I'll happily accept criticism of bikes being on pavements.

So the Police are reporting cyclists for breaking the law by cycling on pavements, but law abiding, god fearing PNP is actually condoning it. You couldn’t make it up.

You know very well that pavement cyclists have little or no consideration for anyone, always fascinates me the way they quite happily ride across a junction well inside the road markings, then wonder why they at times encounter hostility.
The worst place for impatient cyclists is along the seawall, now I'm very aware that cyclists have every right to cycle along the stretch right on the front, cyclists should be equally aware that on a fine sunny day there will be people on that stretch, last year just sat on the wall for a while, the number of cyclists who were trying to ride through at speed and getting very antagonistic when they were held up in any way was ridiculous and did nothing to help the reputation of cyclists at all. Many cyclists clearly thought that toddlers, youngsters in buggies with adults obviously should clear the way instantly and not impede or slow them down.

So what is the penalty if you get caught cycling on the pavement with no hands using your mobile phone? Probably a warning. Drop something on the floor then thats almost a hanging offence

Go to India, not many pavements. NO RULES OF THE ROAD.
Anything goes. Mostly scooters, not many cycles.
