Scores of Police some with dogs along with the Ambulance service were called to the Ramada Hotel on the Promenade at approximately 12.05 am today (17th June) after trouble broke out at wedding reception.
Merseyside Police can confirm that we attended reports of disorder at a Southport hotel in the early hours of this morning, Friday 17 June.
At around 12:05am, a call was received that a group of people attending a wedding at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Southport Promenade were fighting at the location. Officers and ambulance attended and a woman was treated separately at the scene, having fainted.
No injuries were reported or complaints made and a number of guests were instructed to leave the premises or return to their rooms.

I live over the road. The police are there on a regular basis.
Although I don't know what went on inside the hotel a number of shouty drunk angry young men in full "hold me back" mode trying desperately not to hit each other had left the scene before the police arrived.

The Ramada Hotel is becoming a blight on our town. What with expensive call girls operating there ,fighting at weddings ,how this place can be up for awards is beyond me.

Because the BID chairman is the Ramada manager, I'd guess.

Wondered what had happened,as I was driving through Ince woods, and there were about 10-12 police vehicles with blues and two's going, driving towards I assumed would have been either Formby or Southport, and now I know why.
What a joke,if all these vehicles that were being used, plus all the officers in the vehicles, all these resources wasting tax payers money, just to drive in from out of the Local areas without making a single arrest ? What a total waste of time and effort it must have been, just because of the so-called cutbacks, and this town does'nt have any local police officers to attend a situation as happened at the Ramada last night.
The 15-20 minutes it would take to drive to Southport,if it WAS or anything more serious, what could have happened in the time it took the Police to attend ?
