This particular week was the first of two weeks set aside to give all First Division teams the chance to play any cancelled matches due to the very sad passing of our league President, Dave Wright and for football reasons due to both Merseyside & Manchester clubs competing in Europe. It saw four matches played. Firstly, three matches from the week 17th October were contested.

Olympic BC B went into battle with in-form Upholland Social and after a very competitive night of snooker it saw the spoils shared as both sides couldn't be separated in a 3-3 stalemate. This outcome saw the Olympic BC boys join leaders, Southport Conservative Club, on the same number of points but remain in second position as they have one win less and have played a match more than the reigning league Champions but I am sure a big battle will develop, yet again, between the two teams come the resumption in the new year. The Upholland Social side continue in a very healthy fourth place in the league table and they have just reached the semi-finals of our first cup competition, the Kenney Cup. The match also saw Olympic BC B's skipper, Paul Williams in sparkling form with a terrific break of 50 in his frame win.

Maghull RBL A played their encounter with Rainford X SSC and at the end of the evening it saw the Maghull A outfit triumph with a 4-2 away victory but they certainly didn't have things their own way. The Maghull A team raced into a 2-0 lead but were soon pegged back to 2-2 but they held strong to take the last two frames on the match to seal their win. They will be somewhat pleased with the result after a recent run of disappointing form. They remain in third spot in the league standings but find themselves nine points off the two sides directly above them. The match saw Maghull A's Mark Evans in good nick with a nice break of 33 in his frame success.

Finally, Stanley Club A recorded a solid 5-1 home win at the expense of bottom team, Scarisbrick NSC. This outcome sees the Burscough side move into a season's best sixth slot in the league proceedings. The match also saw Stanley's Alan Laine in top form as he produced an excellent 34 clearance after finding himself twenty one points adrift with just one red remaining in the contest to capture his frame.

The other match played this week saw the game originally scheduled for 26th September contested and this was between Aughton Institute A and struggling St Cuthberts and at the conclusion it saw a solid 5-1 victory for the Aughton A team. The result sees the Aughton A outfit move up two places in the table into eighth and also have two matches in hand over the two sides directly above them. The Halsall lads continue in the relegation places after a very poor first half of the campaign.

Other notable breaks this week were – R Spring Jnr (Rainford X SSC) 32 & D Usher (Upholland Social) 31.

The Division One merit table sees Scarisbrick NSC remain in top spot despite another heavy defeat this week and hold on to their four point lead, they now lie on 93 points. Rainford X SSC moved into second position despite defeat this time around and the two points earned from that match was enough to see them move up into second position, they find themselves on 89 points. Olympic BC A drop into third spot as they had completed all their first half of the season matches last week. The thirteenth week updated table can be found below.

Division 2

This week in the Second Division saw the final league matches before the break for the Festivities. Leaders, Aughton Institute D went into battle this time around with Skelmersdale Wardens B and it was the Skelmersdale B lads who came out on top with a superb 4-2 away triumph. The victory was even more impressive for them as the Aughton D side had been in such excellent form of late and it was their first reversal since very early October. The outcome sees the Aughton D outfit continue to hold a healthy lead but have had their advantage cut to five points, the Skelmersdale B team move up two places into second position.

Aughton Institute C clashed with Skelmersdale Wardens C and at the end of a good evening of snooker it saw both teams sharing the spoils as the contest ended in a 3-3 stalemate. The Skelmersdale C boys will certainly be happier with the result as they battle back from a 3-1 deficit to force a fine draw for themselves to back up their superb 'Derby' success last week. The outcome sees the Aughton Institute C team drop into third spot but level on points with the side directly above them, the Skelmersdale C outfit remain in sixth but only five points off the second promotion slot.

Aughton Institute B this particular week got back to winning ways at the fourth time of asking with a solid 4-2 home win at the expense of struggling defending Champions, Stanley Club B. This result sees the Aughton B outfit continue in fifth place in the league standings, some seven points off the pace-setters, but do still have that all important match in hand over the four teams above them, the Burscough team continue in seventh in the table.

The other match played this week saw Stanley Club C record their first success of the current campaign with a terrific 4-2 victory over promotion chasing Farmers Club. The win was even more special to them as they battled back from 2-0 down early in the contest to seal their fine success. They remain bottom of the league proceedings but the result will give them some much needed confidence for the resumption in January, the Farmers outfit drop into fourth but lie just a single point off second spot.

The following matches need to be played no later than the end of February 2018...
