After last week's euphoria of sealing a sixth successive First Division crown, Southport Conservative Club completed their matches for this campaign in the top flight of the Ormskirk & District Amateur Snooker League.

This particular week they played Aughton Institute E and at the end of the evening the spoils were shared in a 3-3 stalemate despite the Champions only able to field a five man team. This outcome sees them winning the title by a comfortable seven points and they will certainly be looking for, and favourites to do so I imagine, a magnificent seven consecutive crown. The Aughton E outfit moved into fourth spot in the league table, and despite them still having one match to play next week to complete all Division One matches, will be guaranteed to finish in that position regardless of the result of that final match. The match also saw Southport's skipper, the very prolific Gareth Hibbott in majestic form with a fantastic break of 93 in his frame success and this latest win sees him on a run of twenty-seven successive frame victories.

Other notable break this week was – C Hoare (Southport Conservative Club) 43.

The Division One Merit League saw Aughton Institute A lift the title last week after their excellent final match win. They won it rather comfortably by a healthy seven points and finished on 127 points. In second place was last year's victors, Upholland Social who can so near to retaining the crown but fell those seven points adrift of the winners but what an outstanding campaign for the Upholland outfit, they ended on 120 points. Olympic BC A finished in an excellent third position with 116 points. The twenty seventh week updated table can be found below.

Division 2

This time around saw the conclusion of matches in the Second Division and after sealing the title two weeks ago, Aughton Institute D went out on a high with their eighteenth triumph of a tremendously successful season for themselves. This week they came up against Skelmersdale Wardens B and at the conclusion of the match it saw the Champions prevail in a 4-2 victory. This result sees them win the title by an amazing fifteen points and also a place in the top flight next term. This past week they also clinched a place in the semi-final of the Le Rose Cup which will be played in the next few weeks in their quest to seal a fabulous 'Double'. The Skelmersdale B side finished in fifth slot in the final league table but were contesting for honours the majority of the campaign.

With the title sealed two weeks ago, the main focus for the final round of matches was who was going to grab that precious runners-up spot and a place in the elite Division for next season. The showdown match was between second placed (going into the match), Skelmersdale Wardens C and Aughton Institute C who lay in third position, a point behind the Skelmersdale C outfit. After the almost guaranteed tense affair, it saw the Aughton Institute C lads hold their nerve and produced an excellent performance to seal a superb 5-1 away success and clinch that second place, the Skelmersdale Wardens C team finished in third just three points adrift. The match also saw Aughton C's captain, Dave Ball in top nick with breaks of 23 & 22 in his frame win.

Aughton Institute B went out on a high and recorded a solid 4-2 home win at the expense of Stanley Club B. The Aughton B boys raced into a 2-0 lead only to quickly be pegged back to 2-2 but they didn't panic and took the final two frames of the encounter to clinch their victory. This outcome sees them finish in a creditable fourth in the final league proceedings after being in the mix nearly all the campaign. The Burscough outfit, I am sure, will be very disappointed with their title defence as they have sat in the bottom two slots for the vast majority of the season and they ended in seventh in the final standings. The match also saw Stanley B's Steve O'Hare in good touch with a nice break of 24 but unfortunately it wasn't enough to seal a frame win.

The other match played this final week saw Farmers Club go out with a bang with a 4-2 win over bottom finishing side, Stanley Club C. This was the Ormskirk based sides ninth success of a somewhat disappointing season where they ended in sixth slot. Both teams will certainly be looking for an improved display next term and to try and challenge for some honours.

Other notable break this week was – J Gore (Aughton Institute B) 21.
